Letter Update

I emailed the letter regarding the blessing last week to our priests.  When I didn't hear anything during the week, I was afraid they didn't get the email.  I didn't want to be a pain and email them asking them if they received the original email.  And, this week has been so busy that I haven't had time to deliver a hard copy to the church.  Then.... this afternoon I received a phone call from one of our priests.  He left the kindest message that I will probably keep on the voice mail for FOREVER.  He was reworking the blessing and said that he thought that last year's blessing was outdated and inadequate.  I guess they took it from the book of blessings that was published in the 70s.  He ended the message by saying, " I hope the Lord will bless you in your struggle with the gift of life."

Those words just touched me so much.  Coming from a priest, they were balm for my soul.

Thank you Fr. C!  We love you!  Thank you for opening you heart and hearing our cry!

  1. Wonderful news! I just went to confession with my favorite priest and while he didn't say he got the letter, he did say he reworked the mother prayer to include those "who yearn for children." I thought that was so great to acknowledge the in/subfertiles. Have a great Sunday!

  4. Awesome!!!! What a blessing! I thought of you and your efforts in writing a letter during our Mother's Day blessing. You see...I cringed at the line about "mother's remembering the day of their baby's baptism". As a women who has had 2 miscarriages and didn't have the opportunity to have them baptised, it stung a bit...so maybe next year, I can talk to them to include something for those babies that haven't been able to be baptized and also for those that yearn to conceive / adopt, etc.

  5. That's so great!!!
I had two priests say they would rework the blessing for the same reason ... It was outdated ... And one priest who didn't give the blessing because he didn't want to "offend" any group (ie. infertiles, singles, etc). At least everyone is now more aware!!! Great job!!!!!
